Zamboni Driver Arrested on DUI Charges

Drunk driving isn’t just on the streets anymore. A Zamboni driver was arrested on Friday on suspicion of driving his ice cleaning vehicle while intoxicated during a high school hockey game in Fargo, North Dakota.

Mr. Steven Anderson, 27, was arrested after displaying “erratic behavior” between the first & second periods of the hockey game. One of the school officials called police to the arena, which was where Anderson was arrested.

“Some of the parents noticed the driver appeared to be impaired,” Jim Larson, Director of Finance and Humans Resources for Fargo Parks, said to ABC News. “I have been with the district for 22 years and this is the first time we’ve experienced this.”

North Dakota court records state that Anderson was also arrested and convicted of another DUI charge in December 2014.

Mr. Anderson pled guilty to the December charge where he was sentenced to 20 hours of community service and was barred from consuming alcohol until January 6.

According to ABC News, no players were injured and no damages were caused while Anderson drove the Zamboni while impaired.
